I think that the scariest part of living from paycheck to paycheck is not having enough money left over for those expensive little "accidents." I am not talking about car accidents or even a tree falling on the house, those to me are BIG accidents. I am talking about when your child drops your new iPod or spills liquid on the computer keyboard. In fact my husband gave me a scare just yesterday when he dropped his laptop on the ground outside the house. We both had to give it a once over to see if it was ok. I was not until recently that I discovered that there was such a thing as student laptop insurance. I guess that laptop insurance is a big thing to have. About 12 years ago we went through a bout of TV sets failing. We would buy a new TV and it would last 2-3 years then just not work anymore. Then we bought one that lasted 6 years which was a huge improvement. The one we have now has lasted 7 years, so far .......we are getting better.
It is those little accidents in life that will break you mentally, if you let them get to you. I have started a small savings account just for those little accidents. It will just have a few hundred dollars in it but at least I know it is there for those little inconveniences in life.
