Making money with your blog, watch your Alexa rating

I hear so many people complaining about how they don't have any Page Rank on their blogs and now they are having a hard time making any money with them. Page Rank seems to be what most of the bigger paid to blog companies are concerned about but I have found out something very different.

My new found knowledge came about when I started to get emails from (if you want people or companies to contact you regarding advertising you have to let them contact you) one of my blogs with no page rank. The emails were from big name corporations that wanted me to place a pre-written article on my blog about one of their products. I thought it was puzzling until I emailed back one of the companies and asked them what made my blog so interesting to them. They mentioned several factors in this order:
  • The blog was appealing to the eye
  • The posts on the blog were well written
  • The Alexa rating was below 400,000 and dropping
It was the last item that I checked further into and sure enough the Alexa rating number was getting smaller. Alexa is the industry standard for how many visitors your blog gets compared to other websites and blogs.

I made almost $100 on two posts for that one little blog last week. Not bad for a blog with no PR but a low Alexa number.
