I was happy with most of what President Obama had to say last night in his speech. I was appalled at the congressmen and senators that showed their obvious resentment towards the people's choice in a leader on national TV. What it shows to the world is a divided USA government during a time of crisis. I really didn't like that Louisiana governor that almost said that everything was fine in his neck of the woods. He even glossed over the fact that New Orleans is still struggling with the devastation of hurricane Katrina years later.
I still have to keep in mind that many of those people were elected by special interest groups. If they came to Washington to get their little hands in some fast money for the people that fronted their elections then I think they are going to be in for a rude awakening. Maybe the time has come for some justice in politics. At least it is a beginning.
This time around we might not have to listen to immigration attorneys, representatives of big oil or real estate barons. Maybe this time, just once, we the people will be listened to.
