The holiday layoffs continue

The layoffs have gotten so bad in the state of Oregon that the state employment department has to hire 35 more people just to handle the phone lines. They handle all of their unemployment claims in 4 major work centers. In order to file an unemployment claim you have to call into the one that your area is assigned to. Calling in can take up to 2 days of constant dialing the phone number.
