When I first started surfing the internet many years ago I used my ISP provided email account. It was at the old long forgotten Prodigy company. I learned way back then never to use your personal email address to sign up for anything on the internet, your email addy will be on every spam email account forever.
Along came the can spam act and I can only say that I have not seen any difference in my junk mail. The only difference is that I have a hotmail and live email accounts that I use for when I sign up for anything on the internet. The hotmail account gets about 60 emails a day that offer me everything from Viagra to Hydroxycut hardcore diet pills. Needless to say I don't open them and just delete them all. I also have used the filter that they both offer to block certain domain names or email addys that are just plain a pain in the butt.
My advice for the day is never to use your own personal email addy when you purchase something online or enter a contest. Get a free email account for those types of things. Google has gmail, MSN offers hotmail and live.
