Pick the right bill/debt to pay off first

Often just picking the right bill or debt to pay off first can be a chore. Using your own psychology can work wonders here. For example when you pay off your credit card are you more inclined to say to yourself "I have credit available on this card so I can buy something using it", if you are then you should concentrate on paying off debts that do not involve freeing up credit for spending. If you have that type of mind set then pay off debts that have a fixed amount that needs to be repaid such as medical bills, a car loan, tax payments or mortgage. Pay off the credit cards only if you cut them up first then pay them off. Just before your last payment, call the credit card company up and not only make your last payment but cancel the card at the same time.
