The national news in TV is reporting a large increase in shoppers using coupons when they shop. People have gone back to coupon clipping like mad. But are those shoppers really saving any money? If you are using a coupon to save money on a product or item that you already intended to buy without a coupon then yes you are saving money. If you are using a coupon to buy an item that you would not normally buy then you might not be coming out ahead on that one. Typically manufacturers want people to use coupons when they are introducing a new product. They want the consumer to buy their fancy new product with a few dollars off then get the consumer hooked on it so that they will continue to buy the product long after the price has gone up.
If you use coupons make sure you are not being fooled into a false sense of "saving money".
