Inventory control doesn't have to be a hard task for the small business owner. Nowadays even bar coding your inventory can be easy. Bar coding your stock is no longer for the big retail store. It can now be used for manufacturing to keep track of items used in production. Another aspect of inventory control is making sure yours does not wander off by it's self. Low cost wireless security cameras are fast becoming the solution to many small businesses. I hate to say it but many small businesses can go under due to a theft problem that is not solved. Dealing with customers shoplifting to your own shipping department stealing items can be very hard on your bottom line. I remember about 20 years ago several people told me about how they use to get a job working the loading dock of a large department store (the one I remember was Sears) and write fake purchase orders for their friends to use to pick up TV and appliances. Those items went straight to the black market to be sold for drug money. As far as I know they never got caught. So be warned, use security and track your inventory.
