Health insurance

If you are employed you know the value of health insurance through your employer. If you are under employed (an uninsured temp worker) or unemployed you not only know the value of health insurance but often cannot afford it. Being unemployed often means you have got to buy your own health insurance or take the risk and hope you don't get injured or sick. For me I have no choice in the matter, I have to have medical insurance since I have asthma and I can never tell when I might have an attack that takes me to ER.

Shopping for health insurance can be a big pain in the butt. I have had to choose the health plan offered to me that covers my local hospital. When I lived in California years ago I lived near 3 major hospitals and even my employer offered different health plans based on which hospital I wanted. Kaiser Permanente was the hospital system I picked when I lived in CA. It was also the one I chose when I became briefly unemployed there too. I found it to be one of the few affordable California health insurance companies around. I wish I could get it were I live now.
