4% increase in the price of food

Have you wondered why you can't seem to make your dollar stretch? Because the stretch is almost gone! The price of food has gone up 4% in the last 12 months, that is the largest increase in 17 years. Milk alone went up 13%, eggs 12%. Isn't it a wonder how we manage to eat? Yet as a nation, the USA has the largest population of obese people in the world. Some how those 2 facts are not making sense. Are the poorer people of the nation getting thinner or are the fatter people spending all their extra money on food instead of paying off credit cards. I would love to see a study on the mentality of obese people that claim to have no money. I have a few relatives that would fall into that category, overweight and not enough money to pay bills, yet they shop at Costco every week to "stock up". I am just trying to make sense of some of the facts and figures that government studies are always throwing at us. I would love to hear what your thoughts are.
